Opportunity comes in many forms...
Zedd had received the message in response to looking for a scientist for his ship. He figured it best to have someone before leaving, since one never knew what they were going to run across. He'd decided to pick this place since there was a lot of activity going on with all the gambling, and at the moment he figured it was best to hide in plain sight. He'd been sitting in the corner booth for a few minutes and already waived off four different waiters. He knew the man that would join him would be eager, his message sounded as much.

He slipped off his jacket and leaned back a bit to get a better view of the room.

Ferengi and the like were arguing, some celebrating, others getting angry on bad spins or rolls of the dice. Zedd knew how much places like this brought in, and they didn't exist because of the legitimate gambling they conducted....

Po's contract was up, and they weren't extending it because the Captain was retiring and her ship was being scuttled. He knew he was a long way from his quadrant, an extra long way from his home. He knew the comms channel where they broadcast job advertisements, but this was his first time stepping foot on New Ferenginar; he'd heard stories of a wormhole linking the Gamma Quadrant to another, but his scientific mind took it with a pinch of salt.

He entered wearing Drayan fashion; he looked like a beekeeper with a veil and a jumpsuit on. His government was extremely isolationist to the point that they would prefer to be left alone. But Po was extremely experienced; he knew Captains preferred to sit at the booth that had the entire room on display and saw someone relaxed, like he was awaiting a waitress to bend over with a fruity drink.

He attacked the situation head-on and walked towards the lounging Captain. Speaking with a youthful squeak, "Captain Sykes, I presume." He said, stopping at the head of the table, peering through his veil, some strands of hair in his eyes, some covering but not entirely, the sandy, reptile-like texture on his forehead.

Zedd had been watching the man head in his direction, he stood out like a sore thumb. He figured it was his contact and received confirmation when he was approached.

"You must be Po. Have a seat, if you want anything to drink Im sure a waiter will bug us any minute now. Again."

He made a note of the markings on his forehead and his features before continuing "So what makes you interested in joining my ship?"

As Po sat down, he tried to hide a smile. So many universal translators on the market, and every one of those AIs used to analyze speech always mispronounced his Drayan name; at least the way it sounded was comical and not plain offensive.

Not wanting to find out what they served or considered a "drink" here, Po answered the questions put to him. "Opportunity." He replied in Gamma Quadrant basic, hoping the universal translator understood that. "I want to touch strange grass, smell the cooked food, and explore."

Zeedd's translator didn't have any issue making the translation. He found the response interesting and fairly basic to say the least. The captain wondered if being able to agree on his share would be possible. He wasn't sure if the standard reply was intentional or not by Po but decided to err on the side of caution and presume that wasn't the case. Getting down to business seemed the best choice.

"We'd need you to cover the Science Chief role, we can pay you say three percent of all gross earnings, so you get paid off the top before expenses are taken out. How does that sound?"

"I am willing to accept that," Po replied; he wasn't money-fussy, he didn't even know what this side of the Gamma Quadrant used as currency or the exchange rate. "I do have a great deal in experience as a scientist; I've been doing this since before I was grey-haired, explored probably a solid 30% of the Delta Quadrant." He said, answering the "Why should I hire you?" question before it was asked. Though he didn't know the species that Captain Skyes belonged to, he wasn't entirely sure if the 30-year age range the captain was in was considered 50s, like in Po's species.

Zedd was happy to hear the amount was acceptable, the notes about the Delta quadrant caught his interest since he didn't know anything about it. But if his claims of checking out thirty percent of the quadrant were true, Zedd figured he would do just fine in the role. At a cost of three percent, it was a risk he was willing to take without having to get too far into it. He figured if they got more into detail, it was possible Po would reconsider his worth and ask for more. It was something Zedd didn't want to risk.

Setting a PADD on the table, he slid it over to the young man in front of him/ "Everything's already set, if you want to read and sign it. Just press your thumbprint in the square at het bottom of the page. You'll get your own quarters and be able to run your team, science isn't really my thing anyways. I just want you to be aware that we're privateers and we'll take on just about any mission, except for anything involving any form of slavery or trafficking of humanoids. That I don't do. But almost anything else is up for consideration. The more money, the better."

"Sounds like we are one and the same," Po stated as he pressed his thumb onto the square, overshadowed by the fact that this was the quickest job interview he had. "I presume you have already hired a team of scientists?"

"A team?" Zedd shrugged "I mean sure, the crew isn't very big in general, we have a couple folks that have some experience that I'm sure will eb able to assist you. Mostly just general hands for the department. To be honest, science really isn't my field. I'm sure we have at least a couple crew that can work with you. We do have a number of labs so at the end of the day you could make everything your own. How about that?"

"Not ideal, me being the only scientist, but I suppose I could train those "couple folks"." Po replied; he had to admit he had his hopes held high. Every private ship preferred a higher security budget than a high science budget in his experience anyway.

"Understandable. If you know anyone or find someone you want to bring on, we can always work that out too" Zedd added. With the contract signed he presumed most of the negotiation was done and figured it best to allow the other man to get settled in. He slid a palm sized device across the table "It's coded to you, it'll get you on the ship whether you wanna go through a docking umbilical or transport up. Quarters are already setup for your position, private for you as a Chief of course."

Po nodded along, taking note of what was being said to him. "I look forward to working for you." He added, believing the negotiations had concluded for, he had nothing to add.

"I do as well. Let's go make some latinum, Mr Po."
